Who We Serve

We Accommodate ALL Families

Family Promise is open to all families, regardless of race, religion, age, or sexual orientation.  Eligible families consist of one or both parents or guardians who are caring for at least one child under the age of 18 and pregnant women with our without children.   We do accept families which include fathers and teenage sons.

If you are a family in need of services or if you know a family in crisis, please call Denise Morse, our Case Manager, at 771-3007.  Families are accepted into our program between the hours of 9:00am-3:00pm Monday-Friday.

To be accepted, families must:

  • Register as homeless with the Erie County Department of Social Services and be referred to our program
  • Complete an initial assessment with our Case Manager
  • Have no active substance abuse, untreated mental health issues or recent incidence of domestic violence
  • Abide by our Guest Guidelines
  • Be capable of participating in a family environment supervised by volunteers

Our Model

Our Model rotates guests between our Day Center and faith communities across Erie County.  Every day we transport families to our Day Center in downtown Buffalo in time for kids to catch the bus and parents to attend to the business of finding stability and shelter while working closely with our Case Manager.  Every evening, we transport guests to a faith community in our network where they receive a hot dinner and overnight accommodations.  In the morning, we provide transportation back to our Day Center.  Every week, families are welcomed into a new faith community.
