New York State has recently restricted our ability to have meals prepared in volunteer kitchens donated due to health and safety concerns. Because of this, we are asking meal donors to become grocery donors. By signing up, you are committing to bring our shelter about $25 worth of groceries. WE WILL CALL YOU THE WEEK BEFORE TO CONFIRM YOUR SHOP LIST. However, for the most part, grocery donors can expect the following:
MONDAYS: FRUITS/VEGETABLES/DAIRY: (apples, bananas, lettuce, carrots, milk, eggs, sliced/shredded cheese)
TUESDAYS: GRAINS: granola bars, cereal bars, bread, tortillas, rice, small boxes of cereal, pop-tarts)
WEDNESDAYS: PANTRY STAPLES: (canned soup, ramen noodle cups, small cans of coffee, small jars peanut butter and jelly, lunchables, chef boyardee)
THURSDAYS: COLD STAPLES: (sliced cold cuts, frozen waffles, frozen steamer vegetables, frozen chicken fingers)
To reduce sharing food during the COVID-19 pandemic, please favor bringing in small portions or individually-sized food items whenever possible. We promote healthy eating habits, so we do not accept soda or other bottled beverages, desserts or candy.
We are requesting that groceries be delivered between 9:00am-4:30pm on the day you are scheduled to our shelter at 75 Hickory Street in Buffalo. We are located on the grounds of Saints Columba-Brigid Church. When you get here, find the building labeled "Family Promise of WNY" located across the parking lot from the church. The correct door is red and should have a sign reading "Family Promise" on it. Any questions please call the main office at (716)771-3007.
WE NEED FOOD MORE THAN EVER NOW THAT ACCESS TO SCHOOL MEALS HAS BEEN DISRUPTED! Thank you for helping our families have access to healthy, nutritious food! Please share this meal schedule with any friends you feel would be happy to help.
